Short term renting and then buying a house…do real estate companies offer this?

On July 2, 2009 / By Estate Planning Help / In Estate-Planning-Wills

I am going to be moving to a new state 8 months before my husband. I am planning on renting for a while and then hopefully finding a house by the time my husband joins me. I obviously don’t want to sign a rental lease because if I don’t know how long until I will find a house. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any options that might work for me. I know some real estate companies rent houses - do you know if they will rent you a house and then let you out of the lease if you buy from them?
Or do you have any other ideas of what I could do? I am moving to a small town.
Thanks!

there are many rentals that are month to month or every 3months…you dont want to rent the house you plan to buy.

you want to keep your options open….by renting a regular apartment you can see the ppl better, and see how it’s like in the neighborhoods.

You could ask for each place for rent if they provide a "buy/build" clause in their rental agreements. That would provide you an escape from a lengthy lease. It’s a very good idea to rent for awhile. Take your time looking around before you buy. You could also check on line to see which real estate companies might have rentals. You could also check on rent.com. Small town huh? It’s possible to find a home to rent that maybe the owner would do a rent to own, or lease with option to buy scenario. You have some time and options. Good Luck!

Try this link for a complex that understands this issue: http://www.apartments.com some of them will let you rent for 7 months and see if that works out for you. Other wise call a REALTOR who specializes in rentals and let them in on the real plan. They will like helping you do both! two paychecks in one year!
